Monday Mantra:: I hold the key

Monday-Mantra-I-hold-the-key-kinesiologyI cashed in on my Christmas present from my lovely man last night.

    Bubbles & Buble!

We even had a yummy dinner out after our pre-dinner drinks. It was great to be out on a date after almost 12 years together. When we got into the venue, there was of course the merchandise stands. I had been looking for a key ring over the last week so when I saw a Michael Buble key ring, it was sold the second I laid eyes on it.

What occurred to me throughout the evening though was that there was much more to this key ring for me.

A reminder of a lovely evening with my man
Because we get caught up in everyday life, day after day, we sometimes forget to appreciate the time we have together, just the two of us. We have the key to this and that is simply to appreciate the time spent together. Wether that’s over dinner and Michael Buble or over coffee and piece of raisin toast (our recent favourite thing to do in this Melbourne weather). Every moment counts so we choose to appreciate it. Appreciation or gratitude is the key.

    Dreams come true
Mr. Buble always mentions how lucky he is to have his dream come true. It’s even more evident now with wife and son and he makes no secret of that. It’s a beautiful thing. Set aside the fact that the world knows who he is, ultimately, he’s a person just like you and I who gets to live his dream doing what he loves with the support of the people he loves. Now, that’s the key – find something you love and people who love and support you and you’ve got the keys to success, regardless of what scale your dream is.

I can help make dreams come
Now, this one is pretty cool too. Yes, it’s easier when you’ve got money or the world supporting you in this endeavour but there is always an opportunity to make dreams come true for others. Last night, Michael Buble took the opportunity to share his time with two young fans. He didn’t have to, but he chose to. The key here is to see the opportunities as they arise and take them on. Even if it’s just to emotionally support someone else while they chase their dreams – that’s a huge key to your success and theirs, because if their dreams come true, it reinforces the idea, the belief that your dreams can come true too.

I don’t intend to be cheesy with this one but this is the number one key:

“Keep on loving what is true and the world will come to you – you can find it in yourself.”

You hold the key to your happiness. Find them and then use them.

As always, save this image to your phone or desktop or print it out and pin it somewhere. When you see it, say it. And if you think someone you know could use this mantra right now, share it. (You could hold the key to their happiness today).

Monday Mantra:: I Can Choose to Let Go

    Monday-Mantra-I choose to let go

Over the last week, we have been cleaning out our spare room.  As I was trudging through all the old sentimental stuff and all the not so sentimental stuff, I wondered – why do we hold on to so much stuff?

We keep things because we get used to having it around – It makes us feel comfortable.

We keep things because they remind us of someone – it makes us feel reminiscent or young.

We keep things because someone we love gave it to us – it makes us feel loved, appreciated, beautiful.

We keep things because it might come in handy one day – it makes us feel hopeful or inspired or safe.

We keep things because they might fit us again, some day – they make us feel excited about the future.

But these things, while they sit in a cupboard or under the stairs in the dark, only ever come out to the light when we go through a spring clean. They hold us back and they weigh us down, sometimes without us even knowing it. And often, that stuff is only hiding more stuff underneath it!

When we need space, we go through a spring clean. We bring out all those old things and throw out a few here and there. Then we hide all that stuff again until we need more space and so the process of bringing those objects out to the light for sorting begins yet again.

The same goes for our emotional wellbeing. We often hide our “stuff” at the back of the mind (sometimes so far back that it’s actually in the subconscious) and it’s only when we find ourselves overwhelmed, in pain or in crisis that we seek out those things in order to spring clean our thoughts and emotions for clarity of mind and when we do, we feel lighter, happier, more relaxed and sometimes more free. Life runs a little more smoothly. This is because our body is no longer holding onto it, it no longer needs to carry the weight of the past.

We can, however, forget that we have a choice in letting things go. It’s human nature to hold on to events, people or situations that no longer do us any good to hold on to for fear of being alone, out of work or unloved, just to name a few. That’s not to say that these fears or concerns aren’t legitimate and in fact, there are many instances when you need to ensure that items like an income for instance are catered for – they do require some thought.

Letting go of old clothes is one thing, but letting go of bigger things will likely take a few rounds of bringing them out of storage for sifting through, so please be patient with yourself. It took me three years to finally get up the courage to leave my secure, long-term employment to chase my dream of becoming a Kinesiologist. It was a classic case of Lather, Rinse, Repeat: I can choose to let go.

What can you start letting go of today?

    Outworn clothes
    Past Hurts
    Old Flames
    Fears
    Limiting Beliefs

Lather, Rinse, Repeat: I can choose to let go.

Monday Mantra:: I choose to live in the present

Monday-Mantra-I choose to live in the present Kinesiology

    One Day at a Time
This article is inspired by a series of personal curve balls that I, and my family have been thrown over the last three weeks. They are not by any means simple and we are certainly not the only ones to ever have gone through these but I am in a unique position to help those beyond my own circle here through this blog. Here’s what I have learnt first hand over the last few weeks.

When things get crazy and life throws you a constant set of curve balls, it’s often easy to let your imagination run away from you or to let your mind reside in the past. Either way, it doesn’t do us good if we are not living in the present moment.

Yes, our long-term goals may be temporarily set off course and yes, it may mean a readjustment of the best way to get there but ultimately, the point is to take it one day at a time because sometimes, this is the best option. By focusing on the present moment, we give our body permission to relax a little. We let go of the “what if’s” (both past and present) and we get to see the situation from present day perspective.

    The past
What is in the past, will remain there. We cannot change it by mulling it over or by going over every detail for how things might have been if we had made other choices. Those choices were already made and they cannot be undone.

What we CAN do however, is look for the lesson, look for the blessing. But looking for these can only be done from the present day perspective. If you living in the past, you’re blessing is out of focus, you need to widen the lens in order to get the clarity of the situation.

    Ask Yourself:
Knowing what I know today, what was my gift then?
How has this made me a better person?
How can a I choose for this to make me a stronger, more focused person?

    The Future
Looking too far into the future with what if’s, while in some instances can be a good thing, can in times of great stress be detrimental to our health. The what if’s, when you’re under stress, tend to only navigate toward the not so nice possibilities. It’s human nature to think of the worst-case scenario first.

Here’s the thing. The same principle applies to the future what ifs as it does to the past what if’s. You need to look for the lesson and the blessing but this needs to be done from the perspective of the present day.

    Ask Yourself:
Knowing what I know today, what is my gift for the future?
How does this information or circumstance change my attitude or actions for a better future, regardless of the outcome?

    The Present
The present is inherently the gift. After all, it’s not called the present for nothing. It is the gift of perspective, of clear focus if you choose to look for it.

Monday Mantra:: I Allow Others to Tell Their Story

You know when you need to talk about something, and you finally get up the courage to talk about it and before you’ve even scratched the surface of your story, someone chimes in with a “well, when I ……” or “that’s like when I……”? It feels pretty horrible doesn’t it? Especially when you’ve been holding on to your story for so long and it’s taken you days, weeks, months or years to muster up the courage to tell it.

Today’s mantra is all about allowing others to tell their story without feeling like you need to give your version of a similar story, without needing to provide a one-upmanship version of your own similar story and without jumping in with a solution.

Sometimes, the biggest gift we can give someone is the space to talk about what they need to talk about, without having someone chime in to fix it, without interruption and without judgement.

If you yourself have something you need to talk about, prefix it with a “I need to talk about something but I need to get it all out so if you could just sit and listen until I’ve got it all out, I’d be so grateful.”

Today, allow others to tell their story.

As always, download the image and save it to your phone screen, desktop or pin it somewhere. When you see it, say it and if you think that someone you know could benefit from this mantra, share it.Monday-Mantra-allow others to tell their story

Monday Mantra:: I Listen to my Body

Monday-Matnra-Listen-Body-KinesiologyYour body is always talking to you.

I’m tired, I’m Hungry, I’m uncomfortable (all of course are on both the physical and metaphysical levels).

Here’s how I listened to my body yesterday: I did nothing except the grocery shopping.

I laid on the couch all day. I had a very long week, I was exhausted and “off colour” all week. Out for dinner two nights, late clients all week, an interview and numerous clients. Now, i had the choice for the two nights out to dinner. I could have said no but I chose to ignore my body. Then after a very late night Saturday night with a friend’s black tie wedding (which was a whole lot of fun but oh so long to get ready for as a woman going to a black tie event), my body was saying “STOP”. So instead of my usual Groceries, cooking meals for the week, including lunches, I laid on the couch and after a good 10 hours sleep last night, I feel pretty good today.

Now, if I had of listened to my body and said no to a few things during the week, chances are that I would not be behind for the week already with cooking but I would have enjoyed my Sunday a bit more too.

What is your body trying to tell you? Are you listening? or are you ignoring its signs and signals?

If it’s tiredness, take a break.
If it’s an unusual symptom and you’re worried, go to the doctor.
If it’s a sick feeling after certain foods, try to remove those foods.
If it’s a an uncomfortable feeling in a certain place, listen to that and investigate what exactly might be causing it.

Your body is always talking to you!

    Monday Mantra:: Everything Is Wow!

    Monday-Mantra-Wow

Today’s monday mantra is courtesy of a 18 month old boy. We babysat him for the first time this weekend and his favourite word at the moment is ‘wow’.

Everything is wow to this young man. He sees the magic in everyday things. A bowl of pasta is “wow”, blinds on the windows are “wow”, the staircase is “wow” and even a book creates a resounding “wow”. It’s beautiful to watch the eyes light up and hear the exasperation and intensity of the wow at all of these seemingly average things.

This week, I challenge you to look at everyday items and situations through new eyes. With a sense of wonder, a sense of magic. Because we often forget that the simple things are often the things we take for granted.

When you catch the train to work this week, think wow.
When you eat your cheese toastie for lunch, think wow.
When you get back to your home, partner, children or pets, think wow.

The more you look for the wow, the more you find the wow, the more you’ll see and feel the wow.

As always, download the  image and save it to your phone or desktop or print it and pin it somewhere. When you see it, say it and if you think someone you know could use this mantra, share it.

Monday Mantra:: I Choose To See The Bigger Picture

    Monday-Mantra-See-the-bigger-picture

I choose to see the bigger picture.

I choose to see the bigger picture because it gives me a chance to choose a happier thought. It gives me the option to look at all of the elements involved before getting upset or angry about something.

I chose this mantra today because I realised this morning that not everyone sees the bigger picture. Some people only see the details of the ‘right then and there’. There is of course no right or wrong way, it’s entirely up to the individual’s perspective but the difference it can make in how you feel and the thoughts you choose is pretty amazing.

What brought this up this morning was a minor thing. A simple “hey, you forgot to get this from the supermarket” kind of remark. But I found myself thinking “but wait, I did the groceries, chopped vegetables and cooked for 3 hours yesterday so you have dinners for the week while I’m working late and all you can see is that I forgot one thing from the supermarket?”.

Where in life are you prone to seeing only the one detail in front of you? Where could you benefit from taking note of the bigger picture? Ask yourself:

    1. Am I looking at this as an individual comment, event, incident? or
    2. Am I looking at this in its entire context or bigger picture?

Choosing to see things in their context can often result in less stress for both yourself and any other people involved.

I choose to see the bigger picture.

As always, download and save the image to your phone, desktop or print and pin it somewhere and when you see it, say it and If you think someone else you know might benefit from this mantra, share it.

MONDAY MANTRA:: I am where & when I need to be

    Monday-Matnra-When-and-Where small

It’s human nature to feel that we should be at some magical place of “the perfect weight”, in “the perfect job”, with “the perfect partner”, “be super busy with our new business”, “finished writing that book” etc etc.

Sometimes though in the midst of all the “should be” and the pushing for “what I want” we forget that we’re probably exactly where and when we should be. It’s a process and it’s okay to be in that process until the timing us right, until all the pieces of the puzzle are in place and until you’re ready to be where it is you are wanting to be.

You are where and when you need to be.

*note: the mantra image will be available here tonight for download (few technical difficulties). But perhaps that is where and when it needs to be 😉

Monday Mantra:: I Allow Myself to Receive

    Monday-Mantra-Allow-Myself-to-Receive

Today’s mantra comes from an awareness that I came into this last week which has since become integral for a lot of my clients.

    I Allow Myself to Receive

I came across an interview on the Super Soul Sunday with Debbie Ford. There were two lines in particular that piqued that awareness twinge. These two lines went something like:

    1. When I got your call, it wasn’t just a call, it was a higher call, you know?
    2. The greatest gift from this phase in my life is that I learnt how to receive love. For the first time, I really felt loved. I was afraid of being vulnerable. I was so busy giving, giving, giving and not receiving

Ordinarily these lines probably wouldn’t have had that same intensity of resonating with me but lately, I have been sensing that I have a bigger calling. I have also been doing a bit of work with the Law of Attraction. And I couldn’t work out what was holding me back with seeing results. That’s where the second line got me.

In the Law of Attraction, there is a law of allowing. That was my missing piece. I was creating, creating, creating and giving, giving, giving and not allowing myself to receive the results.

So my mantra since has been that I Allow Myself to Receive.

Last week, every single client I saw had this very same underlying key that was either holding them back, underpinning a pattern in their life or the turning point in their particular concern. It was key in areas of Money, Relationships and Weight Loss and Health (I’ll cover each them in more detail later in the week of how these patterns were playing out). Yes, there were other elements at play too however, this one line of allowing yourself to receive was present in each area.

Have a think about these in this order:

    1. Where in your life you do you not allow yourself to receive?
(where do you say “no” to an offer of help?, Where do you hold back in relationships?, Where do you feel comfortable? think about how well you receive compliments too – this is something that I am personally working on).
    2. What is the result of not allowing yourself to receive? How do you feel? What do you not have? What do you not see?
    3. What are all the benefits that would come about if you allowed yourself to receive?

Now, repeat, repeat, repeat: I Allow Myself to Receive

Repeat this over and over for a few weeks and start to notice how your interactions start to change, how opportunities start coming your way and how mostly how you start to feel like there’s more give than take in your world.

As always, save the image to your phone lock screen, desktop or print it and pin it somewhere you’ll see it. When you see it, say it and if you think that someone else you know could really use this mantra, share it.

Monday Mantra:: I Allow Myself to Persevere

    Monday Mantra Allowing Perseverance

I allow myself to persevere. I allow myself to keep to going regardless of what comes my way. Regardless of what people say, regardless of what I tell myself, regardless of whether I think I can or not, I allow myself to persevere.

This particular mantra was actually the goal of my last Kinesiology balance. I was feeling frustrated about my progress with my business. I had completed a lot of thought before going into this session about some patterns of mine that had come to light over the weeks prior and to be honest, It started some not so nice self-talk.

I realised that whenever things got tough, I would assume the position of “I can’t do anything right”, “I’m not good enough” and would throw the towel in with “What’s the point?!”. And this pattern was with EVERYTHING! Not just work but at home, with my training, with absolutely everything and this was feeding into my self-worth, pushing me out of taking responsibility and putting me into a victim mentality.

I like this mantra because it says that even when things don’t go as planned, even when I think I’m not good enough, even when I think people will think I’m crazy I allow myself to persevere.

As always, download & save this mantra to your phone or desktop or print it out and pin it somewhere. When you see it, say it and if you think that someone else will benefit from this mantra, share it.
