Journey of a Modern Mystic: A Life Long Practice

As with any adventure you embark on, as the adventure unfolds, you tend feel like nothing has changed because day to day, the shifts aren’t always obvious. Yet, often when we look back at who we were, where we were when we began, we can see the difference and the changes that have taken place. It’s a real before and after that is quantifiable, tangible. that can’t always be seen while we’re in it.

My journey through the School of the Modern Mystic has been subtle in many ways, especially with the day to day working on and working in the material but when I look back at who I was before hand, how I felt before hand I can see and feel that I am very different than I was before.

While many things have shifted, I feel perhaps the biggest gift this beautiful school has given me is the gift of knowing what my own energy feels like.

Before this training, I felt tired, unwell and agitated about so many things. Now, when I am continuing these practices, I find that I have more energy, when I’m unwell I am not unwell for long and while I find myself getting agitated here and there, I know I only need to return to my practices to feel a sense of stillness again. I know that these practices are integral for my wellbeing, for my self-esteem, for my life to feel smooth and life’s challenges something that can be overcome.

I am human of course and I often fall off of my Modern Mystic Wagon but the support from my fellow Modern Mytsics is always there to help get me back on track. It is after all, a spiritual practice.

Without these practices, I know that I am a short fused, illness prone, tired, grumpy person. With them, I am energetic, I am still, I am comfortable in who I am and I make smart choices without really needing to work through them. They just seem to be easy to make.

If I get my energy field right, everything else just works. And I can tell you that fist hand. I’ve loved it so much i’ve begun level 2 to deepen the work of level 1.

Monday Mantra:: I Am Committed To Me.

Monday Mantra I am committed to me

I came to an awareness (or few) over the last week that has transformed my focus. Now that there is a wedding in the near future for me, I have been pondering weight loss, health and fitness more intently on a personal level. One of the key awarenesses I have gained is that when I have been at my goal health and fitness in the past, I was a strong, independent, healthy, happy, expressive woman. I was very much in my element and things went very well in all aspects of my life.

Then, when I realise that i’m so visible in that picture of health and vitality, I retreat and the weight goes back on, I start hiding from the world again. I think this has been because on some level I was doing it all for those around me (not because they asked me to but because on some level it was about seeking external approval). This time round, I will have Kinesiology on my side (first session today on this very topic) and will be able to work through what ever is triggered in me when I get to that visible stage. And committing to yourself is not selfish, in fact, if you commit to yourself, you’re in so much of a better position, both physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually to be there for others, so you’re really doing them a favour by putting yourself first.

This time round, I am committed to MYSELF. To my health, to my fitness, to eating well and to MY time. I am committed to saying no when it needs to be said, to put myself first. I am committed to working through all levels of my being to get to my authentic self because I know that these levels are intricately entwined. I am committed to becoming the strong, fit and healthy woman I know I can be.

I am committed to me.

As always, download and save this Monday Mantra Image to your desktop or phone or print it and pin it somewhere you’ll see it. When you see it, say it. And if you know someone who would also benefit from this mantra, please share it.

Your Dream Is Worth The Risk

I get to meet some pretty amazing people in my line of work. They don’t always know it but they are amazing, loving, generous and kind people. They’re people who want to chase their dreams. They dream of their own business, they dream of finding their purpose and they dream of being confident, of being calm and of being true to themselves. Their dreams are important to them and their dreams are inspiring to people like myself. Once in a while though, I come across someone who is inspiring on a whole new level. And not because of what they may have been through or because of what they want to accomplish but simply in the fact that they’ve come to me for help with their dream.

The thing with dreams is that we tend to feel like it’s a scary or risky thing to pour ourselves into our dream and it can be. Here are two of my favourite things (one quote, one poem which was read out at my year seven graduation in fact) around risk:

“And the day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud, became more painful than the risk it took to blossom.”
– Anais Nin

To laugh is to risk appearing a fool,
To weep is to risk appearing sentimental.
To reach out to another is to risk involvement,
To expose feelings is to risk exposing your true self.
To place your ideas and dreams before a crowd is to risk their loss
To love is to risk not being loved in return,
To hope is to risk despair,
To try is to risk failure.

But risks must be taken because
the greatest hazard in life is to risk nothing.
The person who risks nothing,
does nothing, has nothing, is nothing.
He may avoid suffering and sorrow,
But he cannot learn, feel, change, grow or live.
Chained by his servitude he is a slave
who has forfeited all freedom.

Only a person who risks is free.

– William Arthur Ward

So while it is scary to put yourself out there for your dream (whatever your dream is) there’s always a way to get there or to move towards it and if you’re not moving towards it yet, it’s also okay to be where you’re at until you’re ready for the next step.

So what about your dream? Is there anything holding you back from achieving your dream? Ask yourself if it’s worth the risk. Remember that a life of what if’s works both ways. What if you fail? but oh.. what if you succeed!?

Monday Mantra:: I hold the key

Monday-Mantra-I-hold-the-key-kinesiologyI cashed in on my Christmas present from my lovely man last night.

Bubbles & Buble!

We even had a yummy dinner out after our pre-dinner drinks. It was great to be out on a date after almost 12 years together. When we got into the venue, there was of course the merchandise stands. I had been looking for a key ring over the last week so when I saw a Michael Buble key ring, it was sold the second I laid eyes on it.

What occurred to me throughout the evening though was that there was much more to this key ring for me.

A reminder of a lovely evening with my man
Because we get caught up in everyday life, day after day, we sometimes forget to appreciate the time we have together, just the two of us. We have the key to this and that is simply to appreciate the time spent together. Wether that’s over dinner and Michael Buble or over coffee and piece of raisin toast (our recent favourite thing to do in this Melbourne weather). Every moment counts so we choose to appreciate it. Appreciation or gratitude is the key.

Dreams come true
Mr. Buble always mentions how lucky he is to have his dream come true. It’s even more evident now with wife and son and he makes no secret of that. It’s a beautiful thing. Set aside the fact that the world knows who he is, ultimately, he’s a person just like you and I who gets to live his dream doing what he loves with the support of the people he loves. Now, that’s the key – find something you love and people who love and support you and you’ve got the keys to success, regardless of what scale your dream is.

I can help make dreams come
Now, this one is pretty cool too. Yes, it’s easier when you’ve got money or the world supporting you in this endeavour but there is always an opportunity to make dreams come true for others. Last night, Michael Buble took the opportunity to share his time with two young fans. He didn’t have to, but he chose to. The key here is to see the opportunities as they arise and take them on. Even if it’s just to emotionally support someone else while they chase their dreams – that’s a huge key to your success and theirs, because if their dreams come true, it reinforces the idea, the belief that your dreams can come true too.

I don’t intend to be cheesy with this one but this is the number one key:

“Keep on loving what is true and the world will come to you – you can find it in yourself.”

You hold the key to your happiness. Find them and then use them.

As always, save this image to your phone or desktop or print it out and pin it somewhere. When you see it, say it. And if you think someone you know could use this mantra right now, share it. (You could hold the key to their happiness today).

MONDAY MANTRA:: I am where & when I need to be

Monday-Matnra-When-and-Where small

It’s human nature to feel that we should be at some magical place of “the perfect weight”, in “the perfect job”, with “the perfect partner”, “be super busy with our new business”, “finished writing that book” etc etc.

Sometimes though in the midst of all the “should be” and the pushing for “what I want” we forget that we’re probably exactly where and when we should be. It’s a process and it’s okay to be in that process until the timing us right, until all the pieces of the puzzle are in place and until you’re ready to be where it is you are wanting to be.

You are where and when you need to be.

*note: the mantra image will be available here tonight for download (few technical difficulties). But perhaps that is where and when it needs to be 😉

Are you ready to chase your dream? Book a session with me now and we’ll work together towards catching your dream.

MONDAY MANTRA::I Deserve Success

I love mantra’s. They can be such a great catalyst for change.

Because I love them so much, I thought I’d introduce a regular Monday Mantra each week.

The image below can be saved to your home screen on your mobile so that every time you unlock your phone, you see it. The idea is that the more you see the mantra, the more you say the mantra, the more you believe the mantra. It’s like tricking your body into believing it’s true and eventually great things begin to happen.

The same process works for goals. Some of the most successful people in the world look at their goals hundred’s of times per day. It’s about making it visible and therefore at the front of mind as well as in the back of the mind (conscious AND subconscious).

TIP: to fast track a mantra or goal’s effectiveness, seek out a reputable Kinesiologist who can help you work through any blocks you may have around achieving the goal or mantra (I do).

So, here’s today’s mantra pic, enjoy.

Belief in Business

It sounds, to the untrained ear, odd to say that your personal beliefs can have a big effect on your business or job. But to the trained ear and eye, this is actually pure logic.

What do you believe about success? Do believe that in order to be successful, you need to have an office with a view and that you have to start at the bottom and work your way up – and that takes years? or do you believe that success is setting up your own business and being able to work the hours you want to work while your business runs it’s self? Do you believe that running your own business is hard work or do you believe that it can be done easily and effortlessly?

We have many more complex layers that we care to admitWe have many more complex layers that we care to admit

While some of these elements are present consciously, we sometimes forget that just because we’ve decided that a certain belief is no longer going to be ours, that it just magically erases all the fears and other beliefs that are tied to it. This is not necessarily always the case.

These beliefs can be like a Babushka doll. What appears on the surface is symptomatic of what the core issue is and sometimes, it can take a few layers to be shed in order to get to the real issue. Patience and persistence is key. And if you get to a point when you feel like you’ve done everything you can to make your dream or new belief pattern happen and it’s just not happening as you would like it, that’s when it’s time to ask for some help.
