How to be a Number One A-Grade Client and Why You Should Be One.

 Here’s how to be an A-Grade client (yes, these are based on first hand experience):

  1. Turn up to your appointment on time.
  2. Complete the home reinforcement your body asks for. Home reinforcement is a crucial element of your journey to wellness. It supports the work we do together and the results we accomplish within your sessions. Home reinforcement also ensures that you continue to experience improvement even between appointments.
  3. Be open and honest with me – I’m here to help you.
  4. If you can’t make your appointment on time, call us to ensure that it’s okay if you’re a little late.
  5. If you can’t get to your appointment, call us. Honestly, It’s just plain rude to not turn up. I would much rather you call and cancel than for me to sit around waiting for you when I have a waiting list of clients wanting to see me.Would you just not show up to big important business meeting? No, I didn’t think so.
  6. Remember my name. I don’t expect you to remember the first two times but by the third appointment, I do expect you to know my name and how to pronounce it. A mistake once or twice is fine too but years of getting it wrong and me having to correct you is quite disrespectful.
  7. Please put your phone on silent during your appointment. Please do not answer your phone during your appointment. It’s not only rude and disrespectful of your practitioner, it’s disrespecting yourself, your time and your wellbeing. This one could very well result in you being fired as a client.

So there you have it, turn up on time, call if there’s any issues about attending your appointment, do the home reinforcement, be open and honest with me and re-book when you need to. Pretty simple really.

Why should you be a Number One, A-Grade Client?

As a practitioner, I give a lot to my clients both during the session and afterwards with the research I complete around what they’re trying to achieve. I love my A-Grade clients. My A-Graders are what I would consider my First Class clients. They consistently complete the home reinforcement that tests up in their sessions, they re-book when their body tests up that they should and they’re always looking for ways to improve their wellbeing on all levels. They arrive at each session with new ideas about possible behavioral patterns that might be holding them back and they’re eager to work with me to clear them. They are delightful to work with and as a result, I stay back a little late to see them if they need a later session, I come in a little earlier if they need an earlier session, I keep their preferred appointment times free for them, they always get the first right of refusal when a prime time slot or cancellation becomes available and I’m always happy to squeeze them in for an emergency balance. They get the first class, royal treatment. 

 

 

Monday Mantra:: I Value Myself

Now this little sucker crept back in. The whole running around, looking after everyone else thing snuck back into my life while I wasn’t looking. I, Dana, the practitioner who is always telling clients that it’s okay to put yourself first was not putting herself first!

So, today’s Monday Mantra is as much for me as it is for you.

Where in your life to value others over yourself?

Do you put other people’s needs first?
Do you value their opinion over your own?
Do you value their time more than you do your own?
Do you value your loved ones health more than your own?

What better way to teach your children how to value themselves than by setting a great example.

This one has a tendency to creep in where you least expect it. And it’s not to say that you should only ever do what you want, when you want and not listen to other people’s opinions but there is a balance that can be sought.

I value myself.

Lather, Rinse, Repeat.

Monday Mantra:: I Choose a Better Feeling Thought

I have a new fun habit I’m trying out. Every morning I listen to some Law of Attraction (LOA) videos. It just helps me to get in the happy space before I set out into the world for my day-to-day activities.

This little piece of information is inherent in the LOA process. Choose a better feeling thought.

As I’ve mentioned so many times before, we always have a choice so why not choose a better feeling thought too? For example:

I don’t really like my job, I’m annoyed at myself for choosing a job I really don’t like.
try
I love the money that comes in from this job
or
I appreciate having the money that this job pays me
and then
I chose this job for a very good reason at the time

The idea is to slowly make your way back to the positive feelings. We do this slowly so that the mind and body don’t resist it with doubt. It’s like coaxing your thought patterns into positivity with small, believable, truthful thoughts that gradually turn the thoughts away from the negative and move them towards the positive.

Give it a try. Lather, rinse repeat: I choose a better a feeling thought.

Monday Mantra:: I Always Have a Choice

Today’s Monday Mantra is for all of you who always feel like you’re the one picking up the pieces, always the person who is too busy to do anything for yourself, who always feels like it’s all up to them.

Regardless of what capacity you find yourself feeling pushed into something or stuck with something, remember that you always have a choice.

Just because you said yes to a project or event, doesn’t mean that you are then doomed to “have to” go or complete it. You always have a choice.

You always have a choice. In how to see things, how to hear things and how to say things.

You may have chosen to pile your projects up so high, you’ve left no room for yourself. Choose to let one or two go or refer them on to someone else who can assist.

You may have chosen a career path or course, only to decide that it’s not really what you want to do. Choose to change direction if that is what you want.

Holding onto something or staying in a situation when it doesn’t work for you, is actually more detrimental to your body, mind and spirit. It’s actually okay to say no, it’s actually okay to say “upon thinking about the situation, I’m not sure that this will fit in with my schedule / plans etc, so I’m going to have to let this project go.”

You always have a choice. You may not always be able to see it, but you definitely always have a choice.

Where do you currently feel like you don’t have a choice?
Where do you feel tired or frustrated?
Now think about what choices you made to bring you to that point?
And what choices can you make in order to relieve the pressure right now?

Remember: You always have a choice.

One Day at a Time
This article is inspired by a series of personal curve balls that I, and my family have been thrown over the last three weeks. They are not by any means simple and we are certainly not the only ones to ever have gone through these but I am in a unique position to help those beyond my own circle here through this blog. Here’s what I have learnt first hand over the last few weeks.

When things get crazy and life throws you a constant set of curve balls, it’s often easy to let your imagination run away from you or to let your mind reside in the past. Either way, it doesn’t do us good if we are not living in the present moment.

Yes, our long-term goals may be temporarily set off course and yes, it may mean a readjustment of the best way to get there but ultimately, the point is to take it one day at a time because sometimes, this is the best option. By focusing on the present moment, we give our body permission to relax a little. We let go of the “what if’s” (both past and present) and we get to see the situation from present day perspective.

The past
What is in the past, will remain there. We cannot change it by mulling it over or by going over every detail for how things might have been if we had made other choices. Those choices were already made and they cannot be undone.

What we CAN do however, is look for the lesson, look for the blessing. But looking for these can only be done from the present day perspective. If you living in the past, you’re blessing is out of focus, you need to widen the lens in order to get the clarity of the situation.

Ask Yourself:
Knowing what I know today, what was my gift then?
How has this made me a better person?
How can a I choose for this to make me a stronger, more focused person?

The Future
Looking too far into the future with what if’s, while in some instances can be a good thing, can in times of great stress be detrimental to our health. The what if’s, when you’re under stress, tend to only navigate toward the not so nice possibilities. It’s human nature to think of the worst-case scenario first.

Here’s the thing. The same principle applies to the future what ifs as it does to the past what if’s. You need to look for the lesson and the blessing but this needs to be done from the perspective of the present day.

Ask Yourself:
Knowing what I know today, what is my gift for the future?
How does this information or circumstance change my attitude or actions for a better future, regardless of the outcome?

The Present
The present is inherently the gift. After all, it’s not called the present for nothing. It is the gift of perspective, of clear focus if you choose to look for it.

Giving is the same as receiving

This was the healing attitude I needed at my last Kinesiology session. Giving is the same as receiving. I was working on building my client list at the new clinic space which seemed stagnant, unlike my other clinics.

Since that balance, I have used this almost like a mantra and the more I use it, the more I see how giving is becoming receiving.

A lot of things have shifted for us over the last few weeks (and most certainly in the last few days) that initially have been less than easy to deal with.But looking at it through the eyes of giving is the same as receiving, I can see how these events have allowed myself and my beloved to receive.

  1. By jumping in and getting what needs to be done completed so that there is less stress for others, I have received the gift of a nice tidy house AND an action zone which is overflowing into other areas of my life.
  2. By giving space to someone, we have allowed ourselves to receive some assistance towards our dream.
  3. By giving my attention to my body and energy levels, I have allowed myself to receive more clients.

Where in your life could you apply this healing attitude of giving is the same as receiving?

Monday Mantra:: I Allow Others to Tell Their Story

You know when you need to talk about something, and you finally get up the courage to talk about it and before you’ve even scratched the surface of your story, someone chimes in with a “well, when I ……” or “that’s like when I……”? It feels pretty horrible doesn’t it? Especially when you’ve been holding on to your story for so long and it’s taken you days, weeks, months or years to muster up the courage to tell it.

Today’s mantra is all about allowing others to tell their story without feeling like you need to give your version of a similar story, without needing to provide a one-upmanship version of your own similar story and without jumping in with a solution.

Sometimes, the biggest gift we can give someone is the space to talk about what they need to talk about, without having someone chime in to fix it, without interruption and without judgement.

If you yourself have something you need to talk about, prefix it with a “I need to talk about something but I need to get it all out so if you could just sit and listen until I’ve got it all out, I’d be so grateful.”

Today, allow others to tell their story.

Dream Chaser or Dream Catcher?

Dream Catcher

The answer of course is both.

I have had Dream Chasers (see image below) in my mind as a series of gift cards with a very unique application for months and months on end. Then dream catchers were jumping out at me like signs from the universe.

When I mentioned this to my beloved, he said to me “is it a sign or is it just an extension of yourself?”.

Initially, I was annoyed. I LOVE signs. insert exasperated:Why was he dismissing my signs?

Today though, those words have provided inspiration. Not just from an artistic perspective but from a business perspective. It is an extension of myself. This is what I help all my clients with too. We find their passion, they come to awarenesses of how this might be a great business idea and we work together to eliminate anything that might be holding them back consciously and subconsciously from achieving their dream. I am a dream chaser myself. I help people chase and catch their dreams.
